Why choose us?

We Choose Us initially emerged from the aftermath of burnout, ugly tears, and years of toxic work environments, but quickly evolved into a love letter to our communities that another way is possible. We intimately understand the workplace realities facing women of color—the insidious cycles of harm that impact us in ways both visible and invisible. Burned out from being the “only one”? Wrestling with imposter syndrome? Drained from being perceived as “aggressive” when expressing yourself? We've been there. And we know it doesn't have to be this way.

Drawing from our collective 20 years of experience across various industries, we've developed specialized expertise as workplace culture strategists with the mission of supporting women of color, teams, and organizations in transforming their relationships to work, to themselves, and to each other. We are dedicated to supporting our clients in fostering deeper alignment between work and their unique needs, values, and goals, empowering them to create a more aligned and sustainable work life, nurturing trust and compassion at both individual and collective levels, and building healthier, more connected communities.

  • Terry is a licensed therapist and career empowerment coach. Her work centers around empowering women of color to have the life and career of their dreams.

    Whether you are suffering from burnout, overcoming life hurdles or just trying to figure out the next best step– Terry’s enthusiasm, empathy and thoughtful approach will provide you with the tools and motivation to help you move forward. Terry’s mission is to inspire, motivate and empower women to fall in love with themselves.

    Prior to that, Terry spent 10 years at Viacom Media Networks in organizational development for various teams. In this work, Terry was a pioneer in establishing and implementing strong organizational culture by fostering a sense of community, counseling and mentoring at all levels, and normalizing our humanity at work. Ultimately the core of Terry’s work has been to reinvent human relations in the workplace.

    At the start of her career Terry worked in Television Production as a Production Coordinator/Manager on various television shows.

    Terry is a Licensed Master of Social Work and holds an MSW from New York University Silver School of Social Work. Terry received her coaching certification from the Institute of Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC) and holds certifications in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Change Management from Cornell University. She received her BA from CUNY Brooklyn College where she majored in Television & Radio.

  • Sooah is a co-founder of We Choose Us Coaching, a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, and received her Master’s in International and Comparative Education from New York University.

    She has held roles in higher education institutions, coaching and consulting, nonprofits, and policy organizations and is currently the Director of the Student Experience and Career Design at NYU’s Silver School of Social Work. Through her roles, she has built expertise in strategic visioning, program development, community engagement, implementing DEI initiatives, learning design, and event management.

    Through her work at We Choose Us Coaching, Sooah wishes to critically examine and redefine our relationships to and within the world of work. As a coach, her goal is to partner with clients to ideate everyday ways to practice the possible. As a person, Sooah does whatever the hell she wants, never says no to her desires (no matter how trivial), and strives to prove the existence of justice through small acts.
